MY CUP OF TEA

In 1996 GAZZARA was the first italian acid jazz act to release an LP worldwide. “One” (IRMA Records), with precious guests as The James Taylor Quartet, sold more than 15.000 copies. The following albums,  “Grand Central Boogie” and “The Spirit Of Summer”, contributed to the international success of the band based in Rome,  developing a new sound made of house beats with jazzy infuences.
In 1999 their song “Timeless” pushed the french sampler “Hotel Costes 3” at the top of the dance charts (more than 50.000 copies sold) and soon after the infamous HBO TV production “Sex And The City” made extensive use of GAZZARA tracks in several episodes broadcasted worldwide. In 2006 the fourth album “Brother And Sister” (Silence/Ritmica) was released with such guests as the brasilian jazz diva Ithamara Koorax (Marcos Valle, Herbie Hancock) and an absolute star of electronic house, the german DJ Tom Novy. Since 1996 GAZZARA played many quoted venues as the Jazz Cafè in London, the Montreux Jazz Festival and also toured Russia, Japan, Portugal and Spain.
New album “My Cup Of Tea” (Do It Yourself) was recorded in some very crowded sessions, where the original GAZZARA line up - Francesco Gazzara (keyboards), Massimo Sanna (bass), Mauro Mirti (electro-acoustic percussion) - was joined by many new and old collaborators. Under the co-production of guitarist Marco Lamioni, new tracks introduce the vocal talent of dutch-moluccan vocalist Lily Latuheru and confirm the unique voice of italo-turkish Yasemin Sannino. Also a male vocal timbre debuts on GAZZARA’s repertoire, courtesy of great italian pop soul vocalist Pierluca Buonfrate. More than usual, flute players come in deluxe format: Dario Cecchini (Funk Off, Italian Secret Service, Jovanotti) and the cuban maestro Eduardo Piloto Barreto (from GAZZARA’s live line up) are a top choice. All the album tracks are originals except “Disco Bouzouki”, cover of a ‘70’s hit written by Daniel Vangarde, the father of Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter. Let’s boogie with floor fillers “Forever True”, “Feeling Good In Your Soul” , “What’s On Your Mind”, chill in the lounge room with “Your Way Your Style”, “End Of The Road”, sing along with the ballads “Who Do You Love” e “They Let You Down”.
GAZZARA invite you to join his “cup of tea” made of music, style and attitude blended in 40 years of british soul and pop.
